Wow -- and other matters

The Wow part

Wow. I've been tagged as a "Versatile Blogger" by way of ShanimalsCrackers and The Chronicles of Cardigan. (I love this blog, by the way, because -- shhh, don't tell Ben -- I'm chronically obsessed by Cardigan corgis.) It means a lot to know (a) peeps out there in CyberWorld read this stuff and (b) actually enjoy it. Who knew!

So a condition of acceptance is to share 7 deep dark secrets about yourself. . . . ackkkk, that's the hard part when you live a such a quiet, unassuming life in Bermtopia as I do . . . . but here goes:

1. In addition to owning a food truck when I grow up, I want to be an interior designer, landscape architect, fine artist and professional photographer (with, like, lenses and everything! of course, I wear tri-focal glasses which makes it virtually impossible to manually focus a camera, but I don't see a problem with that, do you?)

2. I'm wicked phobic about heights. The photos I took from the top of the Empire State Building in March were done like this: (1) Wrap point-and-shoot camera cord securely around wrist. (2) Hang camera over rail and blindly click away. (3) Crouch against wall and whimper like a school girl.

3. I was chubby as a child. Oh wait. I'm chubby as an adult. Never mind.

4. I have a children's picture book in the pipeline. About, surprise, surprise, Ben and Kingston. I start trotting it out to agents and publishers next week. I sense there will be a blog or two about this little adventure. Nothing reads better than repeated rejection, right?

Oh my god, I've got three more deep, dark secrets to go? Yikes. I'm digging down deep here, folks.

5. I'm morbidly obsessed with winning a Pioneer Woman give-away. Along with about 100,000 other people. Good luck with that.

6. I was my grade school's candidate for Junior Rose Festival princess in 3rd grade. Chandra at Daley's Dog Years will appreciate this.

7. And come to think of it, while we're on the subject, I marched in the Junior Rose Festival Parade one year. As a baton twirler. Yeah, I know. It was a 60s thing.

The other part of this honor is to pass on The Versatile Blogger tag. Let me introduce you to

The World from My Window

Maddie Grigg is such a graceful writer, capturing natural beauty and the funny foibles of family and friends with equal adeptness. Enjoy. And thank you, C of C!

And other matters

One of the benefits of these cold, cloudy mornings (I'm trying, folks, I really am) is what new spring foliage there is really pops. Here's a sampling from yesterday's morning walk with the Ben-ster:

Happy Saturday!

  3. Oh, yay, you accepted! :) Don't worry, I won't tell Ben about your Cardigan fancy.

That photo story is hilarious. I'm afraid of heights, too. A couple years ago my sister made me go with her to the top of the St. Louis Arch. They make people ride up in a steel capsule and then dump them out at the very top, where the floor is sloped and there are bazillions of windows. Imagine the gravitational pull is so strong that it feels like you might fall backward and roll all the way back down to the ground. Oh no, I don't think so! I sat on the floor with my face in a pole and wrapped my limbs around it for dear life. I had to scoot on my bottom back to the elevator. I couldn't even manage to fling my camera toward the light. :( Good times.

The book news is exciting! I'd love a book about Ben and Kingston. (BTW, sorry I called Kingston by the wrong name the other day.)

    Love Ms. Grigg's blog, too.
