Epilogue: Of displaced ducks and killer cats

Over the last 24 hours, I've had a few inquiries regarding the fate of my friends, The Ducks.

Interestingly, it Was included in my previous post but Blogger ate it. (Seriously. It was there. And not. Never mind.) Here's the recap:

Ben and I did in fact circle around to check on the ducks on our way home. In contrast to 30 minutes earlier, the street was serenely silent, bathed in early morning sunlight.

The ducks were gone.

Through either divine (no wait, let me capitalize that) Divine or human intervention, The Missus had "slipped the surly bonds of earth" and rejoined her mate. He was, no doubt, more than happy to give up his rooftop sentry duty.

But here's what I was left with: As they winged their way toward more duck-friendly environs (wherever that may be), I envisioned The Missus saying (somewhat pointedly) to her Significant Other: "If you don't mind, dear, next time we go out, I'll do the driving."
